Most of the time I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. I became one and stuck at it for more years than most do.

However every time I went to the local station with my parents, whether for travel or for a bit of train spotting, I wanted to work there (especially when I first saw their staff using hand-held radios, which not even the police had at that time). I eventually ended up running that station for a few years.

I also quite fancied becoming a journalist. I now hold a qualification in journalism and I've done a bit of freelancing.

I also liked the idea of being a radio presenter. I later did a bit of relief work for a BBC local radio station.

The only job I remember being interested in as a kid, that I never got to do, was working as an air traffic controller. I'm sure that many thousands of airline passengers should be relieved that I didn't ;-)
