Bursitis - Anyone Ever Had It??

I developed horrendous sick dull pain in my right hip about 2 months ago. Doctor sent me for x-ray(all consultation was over the phone). Went for x ray which showed no issue with joint itself, and as far as he was concerned I had bursitis, which when I googled symptoms fitted perfectly. But he just gave me a list of exercises to do - no antibiotics, no injection, no painkillers (I’ve got those at least). I spoke to doctor after 3 weeks of pain but like I said it’s been months now and I can’t even lie on that side. Cant sleep properly as it’s a sick dull throbbing pain.
Anything else I should be doing to help?? P.S. I’m not overweight at all.

Go back to the dr?

I’ve rang, trying to get a call back is impossible so I thought I’d try here first
I had that , it was very very painful, I could not even sit in a chai only time I got relief was lying down ,it is a truly awful pain , I got strong painkillers from the Doc, but in the end had to have two steroid injections , it is much better since then, I have also an exercise sheet which I do if I feel it coming on again. Go back to the Doctor he should do more.
I had it too - in the shoulder and in the groin - excruciating pain, however Smowball unfortunately it goes away with time - maybe a cupple of painkillers and loads of time.
A doctor will only give you painkillers - so no point in contacting him/her. My sympathy to you.

Colloquially referred to as Tennis Elbow or Housemaid's Knee when it affects those joints.
jack! jack! jack!
How can a hip problem be colloquially called TENNIS ELBOW or HOUSEMAID's KNEE?

I’ve got strong co-codamol (soluble) for something else but I rarely take them. Might have to try those. Have no idea what started it all off.
Jack...forget my critism,I have reread your post.
Sqad, he said when it affects those joints.
I said when it affects those joints, the knee or the elbow.
jno.....I realised that.too late..
well I can remember my groin pain - I was working out in the gym and decided to throw my leg up further than it could go ie like the splits and I actually felt the groin "ripping". Don't remember about the shoulder. It will go eventually Smow but have some patience.
Steroid injections, drainage or removal of the bursa are options so contact the GP again as it has been going on for several weeks.
My doctor explained to me then - it is like a little balloon and it has burst - hence bursitis.
Yes Smow, I have experienced it and agree it is a deep dull pain, the swelling in my case was quite alarming at first and made walking difficult.

You have been super active recently and this may have sparked yours off, try some rest and pain relief until it settles.
Barry by the time Smow would get all of what you mention - it will have healed.
Hopefully, JJ - but not everyone heals over time and have no choice but to opt for additional treatments. She wouldn't have all three at once, they'd start off with the injections and the surgical removal would be the last resort
yes Barry but jeepers - we can't get through to the gp practices and get a consultation - it's hard enough.
Barry - good luck to Smow if that ever happens with this Covid business.
