I read: 'on average, you are supposed to drink half your body weight in fluid ounces every day. So if you weigh 160 pounds, you should be drinking at least 80 ounces of water per day. Many argue that drinking a gallon a day is ideal.'

I weigh 150 lbs, so I should drink over 2 litres (4.2 pints) but I don't think I do.

How do you fare on that formula?

Mamya ; //I wouldn't be getting my info from a Detox blog Khandro - that's another fad.//

It isn't a fad, I'm actually IN detox, undergoing the longest period without booze for over half a century, (1 month) I think it is understandable that this would not be without some effects.

Thanks for all that info. Chris
Khandro....be very, ver careful and take medical advice.
Chronic alcoholism can affect the kidneys in many ways and depending upon the type of kidney damage will affect your ability to cope with water intake.
Your kidney function may be normal, I hope it is, but water intake in the normal patient and a patient with kidney disease is more complicated than the information on acouple of Internet websites, however prestigious.
Thanks squad.
1 drink 3 pints of water a day on average. Plus one tea, and one coffee, 3/4 pint of milk.
I've always got a glass of water by me. I take a large cup of water to bed every night. Not because I think it's the right thing to do, it's just me, always at the tap as a child. Would rather drink water than Orange squash.
There is fluid in nearly everything we eat. As long as your urine is clear and doesn't smell you are consuming enough fluid.
That doesn't sound right at all. You can drink too much fluid. I think about 2 litres a day is the agreed amount although I have seen that some 'experts' think men should drink more, nearer 3
Sorry, didn't know about thd 'complications'
Dear me.
I’m with mamy and Sqad on this. I drink when I’m thirsty, or need a break from boredom.
I would never, ever, drink the amount some website says is good for me. Or some folk on AB say is good for me.
