Can anyone hazard a guess as to what the proper medical terminology might be for:

"stones" in the lungs.

Now obviously this is a very vague description I know. Clearly this individual hasn't asked the questions and the docs gave a very basic layman description.

Im only asking cos I myself am curious!

Someone in extended family was admitted to hospital for 2 nights with breathing issues. Caused, she is told, by a previous Covid infection.

(ie she had covid a few months ago but still has lingering health issues)

Prior to Covid she was fit, no co morbidities and is 20 yo.

The drs aren't yet sure if treatment will be surgical or pharmaceutical.

Fibrosis?
Question Author
Yeah I wondered that - cos scar tissue may have been caused when she had covid. But fibrosis isn't really like "stones".

Also - even when she had active Covid it was fairly mild (ie no hospitalisation etc)
pulmonary lithiasis

someone asked, honestly I heard someone ask !
Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis, small stones in the lungs. Very rare, apparently.
So google says..
Sounds similar to Pulmonary Alveolar Microlithiasis which explains the reference to 'stones' but that is usually a hereditary condition.

Patient should ask for clarity.
No idea. For all intends and purpose, there is no such thing.
Breathing issues aged 20 yes old, treatment surgery or pharmaceutical.
My guess.....bronchiectasis.

Yeah the patient (the granddaughter of my brother in law) is not one to ask any questions and neither are her parents. Some people just are that way. Im curious.
Question Author
Of course "stones" may even have been a term the patient conjured up herself lol. (She's a sweet, honest girl so wouldn't lie but is ... not overly bright ...which is not unkind its simply truth)
On reflection,forget bronchiectasis.
No idea and I am not too impressed with Dr Google's suggestion either.
