In an ‘intimate’ part of my body - I see it as the join of left and right - is a ridge of skin which gets VERY rubbed and sore.

Can’t think of a way of dressing it. I try Savlon, or Eurax, and they help a bit.

Is there a better way of treating this?

Metanium is great for this sort of thing.
What meds are you on?

When I had sore joints (really sore) the doctor gave me high dose VitD
Not sure that ummmm is on the right track.
Wash the area, dry it well and then use something similar as suggested by Ellipsis....Meta I'm or Epaderm Cream.
Metanium.
Ummmm, I think what allen is coyly trying to describe is the skin between his testicles under his penis. Why he can't just be adult and describe it in medical terms I have no idea.

I would suggest Daktarin (Miconazole) 2% Cream
APG...lol....my take on the described anatomical area was the crease between his buttocks, but on reflection you may well be correct.
Daktarin....why not?

Polly. Why not turn a question into an attack? Suits your style.

A) NOT coxxyx, thanks.

B) ‘join’ not ‘joint’.

C) Epaderm might help. Because of where it is (the perineum) it gets a lot of rubbing from clothes.
Allen its not an 'attack'. If you interpret someone telling you you are being 'coy' as an attack, then I can only assume you are looking for a fight lol!

As I was correct in the location of your intimate problem, a 'thankyou' may be in order -but no thats not your style is it sweety.

oh...and look up 'Jock Itch'

Sorry Aunt. Enough pressing problems with me and Mrs A to worry about placating you.
I'm not being flippant but could you try slightly looser clothing until the sore place is healed
Question Author
Not flippant at all roop - all helpful!
I'm definitely not taking sides in any squabbles here but I think that APG's reference to 'jock itch' might possibly be hitting the nail right on the head.

I've had plenty of soreness around those areas over the years through jock itch, which is basically the same type of fungal infection as causes both athlete's foot and ringworm. So using an anti-fungal cream might well do the trick. [Unfortunately pharmacists are no longer permitted to sell Canesten (= 1% clotrimazole cream) to people over 60, as it's not licensed for sale to that age group. So, if it is jock itch, you might need to ask your GP to prescribe something else, Allen].

PS: Despite the name, jock itch doesn't always cause a lot of itching. Sometimes it's just damned sore down there!
Now we know which anatomical region we are dealing with, then I agree withe APG/Buenchico.
I’m over 60 and have recently bought that canestan cream over the counter in Boots without being asked my age.
I’ve also bought it from Sainsburys in my click and collect shop, without any questions.
I've just checked, you can get canestan cream from Amazon. So age isn't an issue.
The 'can you or can't you' debate about whether or not you can buy Canesten if you're over 60 has been heard here several times before.

In this thread, for example, I provide a quote from someone who works in a pharmacy, who explains why it shouldn't be sold to oldies like me. (I also write from personal experience, having been refused it twice - in different pharmacies - on the grounds of my age):

That's why Amazon might help. It doesn't do any harm, and if you are female and it doesn't work, ask for further help.
yes there are a few things that pharmacies seem not to be able to sell to the over 60's....I just buy them online and lie about my age.
just looked on ocado....canesten in many forms, also immodium, which is another thing I have been refused in Boots, freely available, also 1% steroid cream ditto.

Thanks all. Sorry to have involved anyone in my squabbles (origins so far back I've forgotten them) but thanks for trying.

Epiderm seems to work, as 'jock itch' doesn't apply.
