Went about 2-3 weeks ago for a blood test. No letter, no email, no phone call.

Went to pick up prescription up last Monday and there behold there are tablets added for two more conditions.

Now I think I should have been informed.

If your blood tests were normal and there was no change in medication then maybe no communications, although I would dispute, that , but with a change of medication you should have been informed.
I ALWAYS ask for copies of reports and investigations.

If you don't want to take the new tablets rather than asking the doctor what they're for, that's your choice, even though it's a stupid attitude to take.

jenny, I suspect the email went to your junk mail folder. Happened to me recently with my motorbike insurance renewal. I now check the junk mail folder every day because the algorithm for deciding what is junk mail is pretty poor.

Ours expect us to ring if we want the results, otherwise they just deal with it. I would certainly ring and ask them.

yup, you should be informed. If the letter was lost in the post and the email went to the wrong folder and the text message to an Eskimo on the frozen tundra somewhere, you'll have to call the doc and ask. But you shouldn't be required to do this.

If I were you jj, I'd certainly find out what the medication is...whether for something new or to replace what you've been taking. The doctor should know best.
Just noticed medication is for 2 NEW conditions. You shouldn't assume you are ok with what you've been taking.

jj should definitely not take these extra pills until it's all checked out, somebody may have made a mistake and the extra items are not even for her.

I actually don’t think it’s much of a big deal.
If it was me, I’d have rung the surgery within a week of having had the blood test to find out the results, as we’re told to do, and the results team would tell me what to do next ie. doctor wants to speak to you, blood test was fine, you need another test, etc.
Secondly, if I’d been given some different tablets when I picked up my prescription, first thing I’d do is ring the surgery to ask why, what are they for, and get a telephone appointment with the doctor.
Easy peasy.

I did ask the nurse on the day - "what's next" - she said "we will contact you" and no email not in the junk mail.
