I recently took an antibody test out of interest, to see if I had any antibodies from my vaccines. My result was 56. The lowest positive result is 0.8 and the highest is 2500. Has anybody else tried this test, and what results did you get?
Well I’d be interested to know at what rate the antibodies reduce for a start. They generally disappear after 5 months and I’d like to know (being high risk) before I take any chances like being inside without a mask on or going to the theatre. I was interested to see if others had also tested and what their result was.
2 weeks before she died, my mum was tested positive for Covid by the Dougie Mac nurses.
They refused her end of life care in their hospice
(She was addmitted to a local hospital instead)
Strangely enough, myself, my sister, and my niece (who were her 3 main careers and had close contact everyday)) had no symptoms of Covid whatsoever...and neither did my mum who was as vunerable as you could get...dying from cancer!!!!
Would have liked to know what all our readings would have been,
I haven't done that particular one but have done 2 via the University of Oxford/ONS study. The first result was positive for antibodies but the second one was negative for antibodies. I'm puzzled....
I give hearing reports that 60% of the population (or whatever the figure) have Covid antibodies.
How do they know? I have never been tested.
Are they doing a population sample and scaling up?
I got my test from the York Test people who are great. Ages ago the antibody test either showed antibodies or none. But now they can give you specifically a measurement. Mine seems to be quite low, but I’d love to know what other people score. I’m sure that in the future people will be using these tests regularly to see whether their antibodies have dropped off, and therefore whether they should be extra careful.
Pooka-
Not necessarily. There are also T cells and other things that help protect you, But if my test showed no or very low antibodies, I would have a conversation with my doctor.
Jno- exactly this, and hence why I took the test. Now I’ve done one I can compare my levels
in the future. I had the Oxford early- in Feb and May. I don’t know why they’re considering mot having a booster; the booster needs to contain Delta and Lambda, clearly!
I am in a research study, the SIREN study, which is monitoring antibodies over the course of a year . I work at a hospital, and must have contracted Covid early last year when we were not testing asymptomatic people. I had a positive antibody test last July. I still have antibodies from that infection ( we don’t get told the levels but could request this information if we wanted). We have a blood test every month, the research nurse told me this week that people are now starting to test negative ( this particular blood test only shows antibodies generated from infection rather than vaccination). So will wait to see what this week’s test shows.
Lady CG, my curiosity got the better of me as to how this disease works, we do get given quite a bit of information along the way regarding the national results
