I posted here a few weeks ago that I had a chest infection and was prescribed antibiotics and steroids. Then I posted how I felt the hot weather was really getting me down, feeling constantly tired with no energy. Spoke to my GP last Friday who said, come for a blood test Monday morning so we can see if there is something else going on. When I went on Monday, my wheezing had come back and I was finding it hard to swallow. I asked the girl who did my bloods if there was a chance I could see the GP who very kindly agreed to see me and this time I was told it was a chest and throat infection. Given more antibiotics and letter to take to the hospital for a chest x-ray.
At the moment I don't even feel like going to the hospital for the x-ray so will just have to hope I feel better in a few days.
The thing is though, I haven't been able to eat a single morsel for 2 days now and even a sip of water makes me feel very nauseous.
Is it ok that I am unable to eat and if I do feel like eating, what sort of things should I try?
At the moment, no particular food had any appeal to me at all.
Sorry it's a bit drawn out.
I have some jelly powders in the cupboard so could make some jelly. Would that suffice?
Should have picked up my grocery shop today but had to cancel so there isn't much in the cupboards.
The only fruit I have in are apples and I'm sure I couldn't swallow that.
Thanks Smow. Even though I'm now in my mid 70's, I'm still really independent and hate feeling unwell. It didn't even cross my mind to ask someone to get some food for me or even to take me to the hospital for the x-ray. Perhaps I should ask for help, no harm in trying.
Don't forget to take any vital medication which you are prescribed. it is OK if you just take it with liquid if you are not taking any solid food.
Please take care and I do hope that you are soon fighting fit!X
Sorry you feel so I'll, Barsel. Drinking is more important at the moment. As others have said, eat anything you fancy. Light & refreshing food sounds good. x
Barsel - you sound as stubborn as me lol. Mr smow literally had to shout at me to go to hospital the other week when I had a fractured rib - I was going to stay here and not go!!
Hi Bobbs, yes I went for a Covid test when I first started feeling unwell, and it was negative. I think Sqad mentioned at the time that the wheezing wasn't a symptom of Covid and the doctor has told me she can hear the crackling in my chest, so I'm happy to go with her diagnosis. x
ladybirder, I haven't used a cab since the Covid and I don't think the driver would be happy taking me with all the coughing. :-) Will phone my daughter to ask her if she can take me if I feel no better by tomorrow.
