After a few days in hospital with symptomatic anaemia, Hb level of 57, I was discharged yesterday and on the discharge notes it said to be followed up in anaemia clinic and have urgent CTAP OP.
Could anyone enlighten me please.

It's a special scan of your liver.
A hemoglobin level of 57, I thought I was low at 83. My doctor put me on Eprex, and it's gone up to 101 since May so it's working...And so it should at $500 a shot per week.

This is a regular thing with me the last few years, I tell them I feel rough, and that I think I need a blood test again. I just get fobbed off by the front desk in GPs, and it all ends when I am obviously quite breathless and just about in a state of collapse, then I get put through to a GP who then order a flipping ambulance to take me in.
If they would take note before it gets so bad, I could get myself in for a transfusion and not waste resources.
Forgive me. I read it as you needing a clap op.

Hopkirk, oh dear :(
Hopkirk- glad I wasn't alone. I did wonder how bad a case of the clap it has to be to necessitate an op!

I did type it all in capitals, it got changed.
Glad you are home again and I hope the procedure will help to put things right for you.
Ferlew, why not mention Eprex to your doctor?. It might or might not be helpful in your type of anemia, and I'm sure that your NHS would pay for it just as my government health scheme pays for mine.

Sanmac, even my suggesting that "this" is happening again doesn't go down well, let alone going in suggesting what to do.

ferlew, concerning EPREX : this link gives info on the drug and the names used in the UK. NICE approves it, so if you fit the criteria, you should be eligible for it.

Thank you APG,, renal failure has not yet been mentioned to me. I suppose that is the reason they want a CTAP doing?
