My Grandaughter turned 10 a couple of months ago, and has started her periods, seems very young to me, any one else had experience of this happening at this young age.

10 i think is probably at the lower end but still in the "normal" range. I don't have personal experience but know 2 people who started when they were 9
Agree that this is normal. Nothing to worry about
The youngest I know of is my friend's daughter who started her periods at 9 over 20 years ago.
Men know about periods, too, fruitsalad :( Not personally, of course, but I talked to my daughters about it when they were growing up.
I am not a lady but for what it is worth, the onset of puberty at 5he age of 10 years is not unusual.
I find you headline, offensive, ill conceived and totally ignorant.
Agree with most responders Fruitsalad, not unusually early.
Habit I think, Sqad rather than what you say. Some of us grew up in a time or place where men just didn't talk about periods so it's not rude for us to post for ladies....it's simply what we are or were used to.
sqad - do you think any men would be able to answer this question "any one else had experience of this happening at this young age"
men do not experience periods
I was a late starter - 13.

Jesus Sqad, a bit over the top !!

No offence intended Sqad, really didn't think Men would be interested, I know my OH and Son shy away from the subject:(

And to the rest of you guys, thanks for your input :)
Seems more common now, I was odd at 9 my next classmate wasn't til we were nearly 11
Nothing to worry about - except that some aren't ready mentally and resent it. My elder granddaughter was just about 11 and she was furious and wouldn't discuss it for some months. She did come round after a while and just has the normal problems, irregularity etc..
it does seem girls' childhood can end quite young, whereas for boys it's not until they're 30.
My sister was 9. That was in the late 70s.
