Cerebrospinal Fluid Leak

My niece has been suffering from the above for many months now. Apparently it's a leakage of spinal fluid in the head which causes vomiting when it comes down the nose or throat and severe headaches. She was operated on about 6 weeks ago but the source of the leakage was not detected. She is no better.
Anyone know of anyone who has or has had this condition. Would really love some feedback.

This (US) website has lots of information about the condition, as well as a "Patients' Stories" section, which well might be relevant to your query: https://spinalcsfleak.org/

Thank you B
I feel that you have all relevant information and my posts would be superfluous.

Do you think SQAD has got the hump?
Lol !!!
I'm afraid the only experience I have had with this probably won't help you or your niece.

Following an operation under spinal anaesthesia, my husband suffered similar - once the resulting excruciating headaches started it was clear what had happened.

He was hydrated and an epidural patch done to refloat ( a crass way of putting it ) his brain.

I hope they can get to the cause and therefore some way of getting her better.
Your niece is in the special category
The neurosurgeons must be tearing their hair

My brother in law had this after falling off his motor bike. 90% stop spontaneously which his did - you wait and his nose stopped dripping.

The others - off th etop of my pretty little head, you identify the site of the leak and then patch it with dura

Since they wait around for yonks before doing this, I am not surprised the results are - - - patchy

ans no 6 - come on down - is about epidural which is not the origin of the leak I imagine... ( or is)
My reply is Peter yes and was as close as I had to what the OP asked.

In our case of course the cause was known, unlike the one in the question.

Very frustrating.
Epidural - you go on doing blood patches until the patient says OK I will give it a rest now....

[Epidural patching with fibrin sealant may be directed at a known or suspected leak location, or a surgical repair may be the best option. Surgical repairs of spinal CSF leaks have good success rates in the hands of experienced neurosurgeons, but a subset of patients have persistent symptoms and associated disability.]
