I listen to audiobooks or podcasts personally but 5 days points to something serious, I would see a doctor asap.

Really, Archibaldy? When I was younger I used to only sleep 10 hours per week. (3 hours on a Tuesday night, 3 hours on Thursday and 4 hours on Sunday). However it wasn't unknown for me to skip one of those sleep sessions, meaning that I could go for 4 or 5 nights without sleep and not even notice it. (I can still go for several days without sleep quite happily now, at the age of 68).

Start here, Taalesmurt

and consider herbal remedies, such as https://www.nytol.co.uk/nytol-range/nytol-herbal
Just drink a bottle of vodka - you'll drop right off!
Taal. you've asked before about psychosis - your insomnia is likely to be linked with that.

Did you seek some help?
It may well be that you sleep more than you think.
When this happened to me (due to sleep apnea), my GP prescribed me some antihistamines that were renowned for making people very dozy. It was a temporary fix- it worked. I slept. But looking back, it was probably not the best idea, as my brain was waking me up because I was stopping breathing! But in your case, I listen to podcasts/radio 4, and also wear foam earplugs to dull any sound that might be annoying or fixating.
