Above seem to swell at night - would it be ok for me to buy OTC water retention pills - I take one Metformin and one Anlopidine.

To the best of my knowledge anyway, there are no diuretic drugs available without prescription. That only leaves 'natural' products, such as those sold by Holland & Barrett but I note that both of the products sold by that store state that they shouldn't be taken by people with diabetes (which, if I recall correctly, includes you).

I like you take Metformin and Amlodipine and also suffered swollen ankles. Discussed it with the Practice Nurse and changed the Amlodipine script to a different script. Result is now no swollen ankles.
I'd suggest you continue trying to get an appointment either with your GP or your Practice Nurse.

funny you saying Slack Alice - I was on 10mg of Amlopidine (dont have the prescription box here beside me) and I never noticed anything different until nurse rang me and asked me did I noticed that she had highered the dose I think to 20mg - so perhaps that's it. I will mention when I get some mail back from them re the blood tests.
