Hi there guys,
I am making a beauty hamper for my pregnant sister and have a few homemade beauty treats in it like bath salts etc...does anyone know of anymore or have experience in making their own and can tell me the ones that do work out really well? I have googled, but there are loads out there, and I am keen to know from experienced makers what works and what doesn't
cheers my dears

boo...its really easy to make these beauty products in the summer i soak herbs in olive oil in jam jars on sunny windowledges..when the oil has absorbed the scent you just melt some beeswax which you can buy from nealsyard remedies..and add the oil you have made maybe adding a few drops of essential oil put it in a jar and keep it somewhere cool..and hey presto you have ointment...that can be your new hobby for 2006
Wow, that's great advice Mull: Cheers for that. I think I might do ome of the lavender stuff you suggested as I know that that is safe in Pregnancy. I might skip the Almond oil as she has a bit of an issue with nuts (Don't ask, it's a long story.) I did see the reciepes for making soap, and it looked like a nightmare so I didn't want to try it without someone who is experienced doing it so obvioulsy, will avoid it like the plague now!
Boo, you are TOO funny. I would adopt you but im a really naff mother as I sit around all day making stuff in the craft room and leave my kids watching TV, then %pm comes and I realise there's no tea on the table as Ive been busy sewing/sticking/painting/sculpting etc and so we make chip and egg instead! I dont' think social services will think Im an adequate enough role model to be an adoptive parent.......;-)
If you are interested in starting some crafty stuff, look at the panduro catelogue. Lots of lovely projects in there. They have a web address too but I can't remember it!
Anyway, I have to go, back to my papermache, before it dries in the wrong shape! Cheers girls and thanks for taking the time to reply. It's much appreciated.
Merry Christmas

mimififi...being you like crafts have you ever tried making beads?? collect a twig off a tree cut it into small bits ..just like slicing a loaf...and then get a darning needle and prod the pith out from the centre..leave to dry and you can paint them or leave them natural..or even strip the bark..then just thread them up...you could make magical necklaces for gifts..
