As I posted recently I have had pretty bad pain in the small of my back. I found Belladonna plasters in the house and sister put them on yesterday.
But I noticed that after a half hor or so - I didn't feel burning as I usually did in yesteryear so I figured the plasters were out of date.
However bought new ones today when I was in town and got them on my back myself - absolutely no burning or "drawing out" of pain. I remembered there used to be like a feel of a "heartbeat" thump thump - giving me relief
Has "woke", protocol or whatever it is - taken the "goodness" out of the Bella donna.
As I came home from town I called in to see neighbour who had injured her knee yesterday and of course before I tried myself I cut a bit of the plaster for her and then spoke to her later to ask if there was any "burning". Might as well have wasted my money. She said no too.
What has been happening. Belladonna my goodness years ago - right away - you felt the "burning" which gave great relief like working right away. Has that been taken away too?
Mamy - there are all sorts of word being bandied about - I've lost count - so just thought I would throw in "woke". But you are right the potency is very much reduced.
My own has been on for about 3 hours now and I might as well have put on an ordinary plaster.
It's simply old age, Jennyjoan. The nerves in your body aren't as sensitive to the effects of the belladonna as they once were. (It's much the same as losing some of your sense of taste as you get older, so that foods don't seem to have as much flavour as they once did).
Chris - can you advise a strong pain patch cos I used to get strong relief from them. Fabulous.
My sister's neighbour years ago too - I laughed at this - he said when he used the Belladonna - he said went into blisters through the burning. I laughed at that. Are there any stronger plasters out there. cos really the pain in back is wearing me down a little or a big little.
Are these patches/plasters like a Deep Heat effect?? I only ask because when I fell earlier this year and fractured my coxyx the pain in my lower back was unbearable, and apart from painkillers, I put on Deep Heat gel, even though I know it was probably useless, and more a psychological effect in me thinking I was at least trying to do something, but it certainly did give that intense ‘heating up’ effect.
