What Is It For?
44 Answers
I got my NHS Covid Pass after having the 2 vaccines thinking that will get me into places without having to do a flow test, but I was wrong.
Tomorrow I am going to visit my cousin who has had to go into a care home and when I phoned today to say I would be going, I was told I would have to do a flow test when I get there even though I have the pass.
The thought of me or someone else sticking something down my throat and up my nose just fills me with dread.
What is the Covid pass for if you still have to do a test?

You can have Covid and not know you have it.
If you go into a building full of vulnerable people, you need to know at that time that you are Covid free**.And the best way to do that is an on the spot test.*
* The lateral flow test isn’t 100% accurate, but it is the best we have at the moment.
** Considering the possibility that you could cause multiple fatalities if you introduced Covid to this home, then in this instance the extra precautions in addition to your Covid pass, are right and proper.

Must admit I'm still a bit nervous about going as one who was classed as extremely vulnerable and had to do the shielding etc I have been avoiding all places where there are more than a few people.
Still, have had my jabs and booster and I will not be doing hugs and kisses and will be wearing mask etc, so it should be ok for the residents and myself.

Lottie, I will look into doing that next time.
They said I could do it at home and show them the results when I get there, but I suspect you might need a smart phone and apps which I don't have.
I'm also taking her Grandson who I think is in his 30's and I don't know if he has been vaccinated, but hoppy said you can't get in there unless you have, so I presume he has.
Will ask him when I pick him up. No point him going if he hasn't had the jabs.

I've kind of been asking the same, barsel. It is just a nose one, if that helps. But, I don't really see the safety of "passports", as anywhere they would be needed, a test would be preferable.
No matter your vaccination status- either you have covid and are a risk to everyone, or you don't have it and are a risk to nobody.
"Less likely" seems an odd option, when we can actually tell...
