We all had Salk vaccine sugar lumps against polio. I wasn't aware of a big fuss about stopping us dying or living in iron lungs like the kids round the corner.

I'm in my late 60's and I've never had; small pox, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus...I wonder why?

I was a young and confused Mum when my youngest Daughter was due her boosters including whooping Cough - there was a scare knocking round so after much deliberating I refused the Pertussis part.

Yes, three months later, I was sleeping beside her cot in the hospital having been shown how to vacuum out her airways.

I still feel guilty.

I understand how you must have felt, Mamy, having been through something similar (although not linked to vaccination). We had the pain, but not really the guilt (although you always wonder if you did something wrong or neglectful).
