Lump On My Hand

Had this lump on the back of my hand for a few weeks now and wondered if someone might know what it is.
Is it something that will go on it's own or does it need treatment? TIA

I wondered that bednobs, but when I mentioned it to someone in occupational therapy she said a ganglion is only small, like a pea.
Do they go on their own?

The old wives way of dealing with a ganglion was to give it a good whack with a heavy book.

Have looked at the photos Danny, but they seem to take different forms, and as I already have lumps and bumps on my hands (arthritis) the OT person said it could be part of that although it's something I've never seen before.

That's difficult to answer Danny as my hands are painful already with the arthritis.
It does seem to stop me from using my hand sometimes for say carrying a mug of tea.

I personally thinks it's a ganglion but don't know the way things are at the moment if it warrants a visit to the GP.

I think,in that case, a visit to the GP might be in order.

Is it soft (squizzy) or hard? If the former it is a ganglion, if it is hard it isn't.

My money goes on a ganglion and if it is nor causing any trouble then leave well alone. However if it is causing problems or restricting your movements then see your GP and get it excised.

No big deal.

i had one of these and the doc removed it, i asked if i would be able to play the piano he said of course and i said great as i cant play one yet lol x

Sqad, here is another photo of my hand. The lumps on the right are my knuckles and as you can see, the little finger drops down because apparently the tendon is holding on by the skin of it's teeth.
As you can probably tell, my hand is already painful and I wanted to know if this 'ganglion needs treatment before it causes any damage elsewhere or causes more disability.

Anne, I'm already on the non urgent list for an operation on my little finger.
Even thought they said the tendon on my little finger could go at any time, I've already been waiting 6 months.
