Hi, I have a problem I would like some advice on. Went out on Friday and was quite drunk, to cut a long story short I spoke to my pals boyfriends ex - she was with a group of friends from my work. Anyway, it was only 4 a minute and in my drunken state I just said it was daft of me to continue to ignore her coz she was with people i knew. I told my pal and she went bananas! I am going 4 dinner later with her and her boyfriend - i have apologised profusely - but things are going to be tense. Any suggestions to break the ice?

Just say- Look, I'm really sorry about speaking to X, I was drunk, and I wasn't thinking. Can we please just forget about it and have a nice evening? Now- drinks are on me! What would you like?

Only someone very immature would still hold a grudge.

there's some law against speaking to your pal's...boyfriend's...ex? Why? Your pal doesn't have any right to dictate who you speak to; drunk or sober, you were right to think it was daft to pretend whe wasn't there. Anyway, apologise to your pal - and next time you speak to the other one, don't tell your pal. Just talk to anyone you want; you're a better person for it, and I think they're all being a bit petty and stupid.
Yes, your friend needs to grow up and stop getting jealous if you speak to people they do not like. Don't worry about it.

Hi

Thanks for the advice - she never even raised the subject so I left it! I honestly felt that she over reacted - but i think she had blown it all out of proportion and had some idea that i was chattin to the ex about her - which is something that i would never do.
