Handing Prescriptions To Strangers?
36 Answers
My cough from last week has progressed to a bad chest infection - I’ve seen my doctor this morning on an online zoom consultation. He prescribed steroids and antibiotics, but I knew there was no way I could get to my pharmacy. So my MIL said I’ll go and get it, don’t be silly. She’s just walked into my pharmacy, said oh I’m Karen C….s mother in law. She’s poorly. Can I pick up her prescription? And they just handed it to her. She could have been anybody? Is that typical? x

I always collect OH's prescriptions and only last week was I asked for the first time who I was. (The look should have told 'em.)
You have reminded me of a great friend who worked part time and would regularly collect her lodger's prescription. The pharmacist was a lovely Chinese gentleman. She would ask for the script for Barbara McKenzie and wait. The pharmacist would come to the counter and shout Blabla McKenzie. Always raised a titter ;)

Smow - when I was with Boots - they asked me me address and date of birth.
Me personally I don't give a "f" who picks up the prescription as long as i get it.
Isn;t it great for all of us to have neighbours or MILs - I couldn't give a damn to be quite honest. Never thought you would have thought like that Smow.

Here in Spain we have a social security card. When the dr. Makes a prescription it immediately goes onto the chip. If you can’t make it there yourself, just give the card to someone who can then take the card into any chemist and receive the medicine. With this same no. You can access your medical history, medicines, etc. It’s a good system.
