Treatment For Boil

I have a really painful boil at the top of my thigh. Its so painful im in tears.
Ive tried bathing it in salt water, put a hot water bottle on it but no joy.

Ive just got antibiotics for a chest infection, do you think they will help this also?

The antibiotics may well help the boil but you might need a different one. Is it a boil or ingrown hair. How hot is the salt water

They might or might not.
Leave well alone and take Ibuprofen 400 mgms after each meal. It should settle although it is in an unusual place.
If you start a temperature, shake and feel ill then go to A&E.

It should settle by the weekend.

Been there :(
Can you sit in a bath of water, as hot as you can, for as long as you can? If it's anywhere near ready to 'pop' this will help x

Hot-water compresses are kinder than the 'kaolin poultices' my mum used to inflict on us. They worked though. Some people used to use bread poultices (soak bread in boiling water and apply). Hot compresses will 'draw' it.

Thanks all, been bathing in salt water and comprising with hit flannel, seems to be easing, much better anyway.
