High White Blood Cell Count
20 Answers
What does it mean when you have a high white blood cell count? I've looked online but I wouldn't know if I had any of the illnesses or symptoms linked to it.
I had 3 blood tests done during the summer and all showed a high count. I submitted a sample around 3 or 4 weeks ago but haven't had the results of that yet. I went for an ultrasound today which was clear and waiting for a chest x-ray appointment.

That's the least of your worries. My son in law has similar worries. He has to keep having his bloid checked, as his white blood cells are quite high. He's wondering if it might be to do with autoimmune disease, as his fingers get stiff and painful at times. His Mother has bad arthritic fingers, so it could be hereditary. Anyway, I'm glad tests didn't throw anything worrying up for you. Hope you get more positive news.

I'm not on any medication and haven't taken any long term medication.
Ever since I had little Tigs I've had trouble with stiffness all over and I find it difficult to get up if I'm sitting on the floor. I can't kneel anymore as my knees are really sore. At first it was just back aches and I put it down to the epidural but all over aches and pains now and probably muscle weakness due to not being able to do much exercise.

Tiggs, this is probably way off the mark but perhaps worth a thought. In my 40s I suddenly began to suffer as you've described. Aches all over. Had to haul my self up if I sat on the floor. MrG would have to roll me out of bed some mornings then help me off the floor.
I struggled for such a long time...one consultant wanted to refer me to a psychiatrist.
A complete throwaway comment from MrG led to the discovery that it was an unusual allergy to peanuts that had developed suddenly...and I loved peanuts!
Stopped eating them.....fit as a fiddle. Experimented with eating them again after a few months. Anaphylactic shock.

I love peanuts, and most other nuts, Guess, but I can go for months without eating anything nutty but still feel the same :o(
Sqad, not sure what you mean by keep off the Internet. I only only checked the NHS website for possible causes/symptoms etc. Oh, and the sample results were normal. Patient Access seems to have all med records from early 2000s. Just realised that now after checking for results!
