Sqad(Or Anyone Please) - A Definition Of This Would Be Most Appreciated!

I had an ultrasound last week of elbows and hips. Elbows I understand, but can someone explain what this means - it’s the definition of what is or isn’t wrong with hips.
On the right the gluteal tendons are heterogenous with loss of fibrillation pattern & intrasubstance hypoecjoic foci underlying in keeping with tendinopathy.
The trochanteric bursa is thickened with increased fluid in keeping with tendinopathy.
On the left there is cortical irregularity at the gluteal insertion, gluteal tendons are thickened, heterogeneous with intrasubstance hypoecjoic foci in keeping with tendinopathy & associated degenerative tears.

It annoys me greatly that consultants now have to send copies of their findings to patients as well as GPs. Totally useless for most patients and can cause needless anxiety

good - when I got an orbital secondary and asked the (eye) outpatients clerk for a copy of the orbital scan - she said "I have no idea what you are talking about"
Quoted to the Chief exec who denied it of course - 'she didnt' - I had reminded him forcefully of his and his employees' duties under legislation ( first one was access to medical records act 1993 before anyone speaks)

Peter, that cannot be true without the info in the OP!

Barry, it does not annoy me. I prefer by far to get the Consultant's report so I can digest the info therein before I next speak to him/her or the GP. If someone is going to become anxious upon receipt of such a report how on earth are they going to cope with the news when it is given verbally by the doctor(s)? I don't see how they can take it all in. By reading a report, (which is received at the same time as the GP gets it) one has time to do some judicious searching to understand things better and this then arms one better with sensible questions to talk to the medical experts. I have never searched for possible ailments/conditions on line until I have been diagnosed with it and then I go the relevant NHS page

choux, last year I had a letter following my diabetic eye screen that I had retinopathy which caused me great anxiety. No treatment, nothing could be done.
This year there is no sign of retinopathy so what was the point?

If the consultant must send letters to the patient it should at least be written in a way that is easily understood by the average layperson.

When the patient is having the follow up appointment with the doctor then it is, hopefully, put into context with proper explanation as to what is wrong and why, treatment options, the likelihood of recovery or future deterioration, coping strategies.

Sorry....I have been busy this morning ;-)

the ultrasound report is that of a wear and tear degeneration of your hip joint but is not specific.
You may need an MRI scan to differentiate is the hip joint normal or is your problem due to the muscles and tendons.
if it is the former, then a hip replacement would be a consideration, but if the latter then no surgical approaches would suffice.
An MRI scan would be a great help in differentiating.

On reflection..........an MRI scan would not necessarily get is much further......the report is that of a musculo-tendonous problem which requires expert physiotherapy or injections of steroids around the joint.

It would indeed smow......very painful and I am not sure what you have been taking, but I would hit the Ibuprofen to start with.

Totally agree with Redhelen, the medical profession should make it a priority to explain all this to you instead of leaving you struggling to make sense of it.
Please contact your gp or consultant and ask for it to be explained in terms that can be understood by a patient.

I am not a Co-codamol fan, but if it relieves your pain, then that is fine.
However...I consider the anti-inflammatory properties (that is what you need) of Ibuprofen 400 mgm is greater than co-codamol.
My opinion.
