A Victory For Common Sense?

Well, this is a turn-up for the books. Children displaying transgender tendencies are likely going through a “phase” that they may come out of as they age and therefore most should not be subjected to transition therapies, new guidance from NHS has stated.
In a potentially stark departure from years past, draft guidelines published by NHS England have called for stricter rules surrounding the treatment of allegedly transgender children under the age of 18, going so far as to warn doctors to not take the so-called gender-affirming approach of indulging youngsters in areas such as preferred pronouns.

I am sure that the powerful lobbyists and the 'wokerati' will have a lot to say about this. But who knows, perhaps the world is waking up to the waking that messing with kid's minds and promoting gender fluidity isn't a healthy idea.

Yes, I wanted to be 'George' as well!
It's a serious problem. My 12 year-old grandson has asked if, because he feels no strong feelings about girls, he is trans.!! He's very upset and insecure about this now. These issues shouldn't even be in their brains bothering them. The vast majority don't need burdening with this at early ages.
Now, before I'm castigated for being insensitive, some on here will know that my God-daughter recently became my God-son. She was genuinely a sufferer of gender-dysmorphia and suffered on her way to becoming my much-loved God-son; including a traumatic teenage which cost everyone involved much anxiety and pain. The change was not complete until his 30s.

Indeed. And let’s have a look at just how tiny that number is. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, gender dysphoria prevalence accounts for 0.005–0.014% of the population for biological males and 0.002–0.003% for biological females. That’s a maximum of 14 in 100,000 males and 3 in 100,000 females. These are tiny numbers. People who do not suffer from that condition should not be encouraged to declare themselves “transgender” just because they feel like it. For the majority of them that is the only reason they make such a declaration and for many of them it is indeed a “phase” or a “fashion” to which they latch on to. It has rendered “gender” virtually meaningless and has led to unnecessary and sometimes serious problems, especially for women. The issue needs to be relegated to the backwaters of fads and fashions instead of being an all-consuming topic of the day.
