painful throat

Does anyone know if there is a very painful sore throat going the rounds? No temperature no feeling ill but shaking with the pain, it hit my husband suddenly today.

I hope you've had your husband checked out by now. It may have been something different than an illness. Maybe something stuck in his throat.

I had one in the run up to & over Christmas. No other symptoms but OH MY GOD was my throat sore!!! I gargled with salt water ever couple of hours and it really helped. Hope your husband feels better soon!

I had the cold over christmas! it started with a sore throat

Gargle with salt water, that will kill any infection. (Boil water, add loads of salt and let it cool, or add some cold water. Do not swallow!!) I had this and it became pleurisy. Are his tonsills swollen or very red? I would get a Doc to check it out anyway.

Sounds like a strep throat.Agony to swallow with jagging pain in ear?The advice you have been given is sound - have you tried lookin to see if there are pockets of pus at the back of the throat.That would indicate an infection and might require antibiotics.Hope he feels better soon - it truly is agonising.

Thanks everyone,he`s much better today but willkeep an eye on the situation, I think it`s a strep. infection.
