Ways To Prevent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Flare Ups?
2 Answers
I get carpal tunnel syndrome, but only when i use anything that vibrates like my sewing machine or drill, or i have to move my arm or wrist repeatedly - such as stirring a pot, sawing, etc
my main issue is the sewing machine - once its flared up, i'm stuck with until it calms down - it hurts & makes doing anything hard because of the numbness & even keeps me awake or wakes me up early.
Problem is, if im on a job, i cant just stop sewing, i have to carry on, and though i've managed, i know i'm potentially doing permanent nerve damage
so i'm wondering if there is a way to PREVENT it from becoming inflamed in the first place - like a point to put pressure on etc with accupressure?
once i hurt my elbow but it only hurt when i certain muscle moved - so by wearing a strap over the muscle it stopped it moving & stopped the pain.
i know CTS is caused by swelling in the wrist and there is a tight band in the wrist so when the nerves, tendons etc swell they press against the band - causing the problem.
This band can be cut with surgery but theres a risk of nerve damage & loss of feeling etc and as an artist I need full control of my fingers.
Ive got various wrist splints etc but they dont stop it, only help keep my wrist straight after its already happpened (i think)
So anyone know of anything?
Thanks :)
