betablockers and cocaine

i ran out of betablockers (atenolol) 2 days ago and haven't been able to get a new prescription. Will there be any ill effects if i take cocaine

There won't necessarily be any ill effects because you are missing the betablockers - you can do yourself plenty of damage just by taking the cocaine!

betablockers are synthetically produced products, meant to imitate or stimulate the body's natural hormonal reactions....I think you're better off sticking with coke....the makers say its the 'real thing'.

I agree with Andy Hughes. Start the New Year off by getting yourself clean (or resolving to stay off it). Your body is a wonderful mechanism. Why abuse it and store up trouble foyourself when there are so many people out there with real physical problems caused by no fault of their own? Your health is one of the best things you can ever have. Don't take it for granted.

Well one of my 17 year old patients had a brain stem CVA after taking cocaine. Is that enough of a side effect for you?

thank you all very much for your constructive remarks. I have been clean from many drugs now for a long time and would like to point out that i only do a very small amount of coke on special occasions (christmas, birthdays etc), usually in the privacy of my own home. I am obviously concerned about my own wellbeing otherwise wouldn't have bothered to ask the question, i will clearly abstain if the fact that i have abruptly ceased my atenolol will cause my heart to explode (or something).

i am fully aware of the dangers that go hand in hand with drugs and don't in any way require a lecture on how to treat my body. Again, i am grateful for all your comments and wish you a very merry new year :) x

I suppose the fact that they do it in the privacy of their own home means we dont have to listen them talking about themselves all night and have to take them to a&e when they have heart palpatations for mixing with beta blockers.

Actually mimsung my observation was not a 'lecture' - just pointing out that as someone who proposes to ingest cocaine on top of an absence of prescription meication, and then asks for the opinion of complete strangers, you are in need of a reality check.

Reading that you think the 'occasional' (or is it 'recreational'?) use in private somehow elevates you above the run-of-the-mill moron who snorts this rubbish confirms that your reality, along with your sense of responsibility, and your income, are being eroded away in tandem with your nasal passages.

Next time you feel like a snort, use the mirror you ingest off, and have a look at yourself doing it, and ask yourself - is this the action of a mature responsible adult, I mean, what do I look like?

Drugs are for losers. Continue with the cocaine, leave the beta blockers for someone who really needs/wants them.

As a debate point...which is worse, spending 35 pounds( or however much it is) on cocaine and becoming lively, chatty etc or spending an equal amount on stella then wanting to fight anyone who is around.

I know cocaine in illegal but personally think alcohol does far more psychological and physical damage. I genuinely don't think cocaine, taken in moderation does any harm. the stories about peoples septums falling out are rare, and are due to massive amounts of cocaine being taken.

And i'm just guessing that not everyone who takes drugs ends up an addict, in A and E or dead. Again look at alcohol admissions to hospital

Please don't all have a go at me, I don't take any drugs and I drink very little!

if you are taking such medication you should be responsible enough to make sure you do not run out over the festive season - you know the doctors close. Don't be a fool for even suggesting taking cocaine - what a death wish. Ring your dr's out of hours and tell them you need a prescription as you have been such a plank you forgot to get it from your dr's. You are given this medication for a reason
