I'd not be so keen to dismiss him out of hand. I've no idea if all his claims are valid, but assume where he quotes published documents then they could be checked.

Personally I do not believe the natural wet market source explanation. There have been reports of numerous Chinese whistleblowers going missing, thus the way the CCP controls the narrative. And the most likely scenario IMO is an escape from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Lord only knows who else had a hand in what was being researched there.

they didnt start around the lab. "oh but it was covered up in the lab".
and in the wet market: there was an attempt to cover up, but the news broke thro. - the doctor who was made to recant and then ... died.

The virus itself has a genetic code, much longer than it should be ( rna is rather unstable ) . Basically it is two halves repeated ( think of a bicycle) . The second 'proof reads' the product from the first and minimises mistakes. That is no 2 has a stabilising function - I just cant think of any scientist thinking of such an innovation....(IMO)

there was a film called Contagion 10 years earlier. Infected bat in China eats a banana and drops some near a pig, which eats it. A chef cooks the pig and shakes hands with Gwyneth Paltrow, who's on her way to the States... All very prescient and far more likely than scientists cooking it all up. Lots of stuff about deniers and influencers and human error and so on as well.
