Is there a way you can slightly stretch a pair of new leather shoes?

I've been wandering round house in them to wear them in a bit, does stuffing them with paper help?

The next size up were massive so just got them to hope they will stretch.

It depends exactly where in the shoe you want them stretched. If it's across the width of the foot where the big toe is, rubbing the handle of a blunt knife inside might help ease it a little. If you're are lucky enough to have a cobbler or shoe mender near you, some of them have proper stretching gadgets they use to gently stretch the leather.

Its just where my big toe is, if they don't ease off I could try a cobblers. Thanks

As you can see, these shoe stretchers are not expensive and certainly should be available in the U.K. Often newly stretched shoes tend to return or shrink back to near the original (uncomfortable) size, so they are nice to have around...

Good luck!

I recently had the same problem. I went to the Shoe Repair Shop( the type found in Shopping Malls) and asked for them to be stretched. They said they had a spray which did the job better and it certainly did the trick with only a couple of sprays. It is called Shoe Stretcher by a firm called 'PUNCH'. The e-mail address is www.punchindustries.com. Hope this helps.

Yes, stuffing them with paper will help, but make it damp newspaper and stuff it in really tight. (son of a shoe repairer)

Good luck

I agree with Wendys as i use to work in a cobblers and we use to have lots of people with the same problem, they put them on a shoe stretch for a couple of days and they do stretch without mis shaping the shoe. costs about 6
