My Mother always said"Put a bread poultice on it!" for any kind of spot/boil or infection.

I can see how make them, but as the spot that won't go quickly enough is on a bum cheek,I don't see how I can keep the bread poultice there!LOL

My question is,are they worth making, and do they work?

a hot salty bath may help to draw it out too - not sure deep heat is the best as I don't think its advisable to get that in an open wound (if it bursts)

[email protected]. yes it might be the pants that are rubbing on the boil. I would ring the doctor for advice on which cream to use.

^^^^  Grr 'vein', sorry.

Yes,bathing with hot salty water certainly seems to be doing good!

I don't actually have any open wound,just a blind spot,that won't disappear completely.

Much less sore after salt water bathing,Thank You.

Further Updates:~

A friend reccomended Sudocrem, for the "blind" spot on my bum cheek.

I have only just used it,but it certainly relieves any pain,or stinging, from the spot.

Any thoughts on Sudocrem folks?

My children used to use sudocrem for their facial spots and acne when they were that age.  It seemed to work and did no harm, so if it's working for you - carry on

I always used Sudocrem on my babies' bums at nappy change time. They never had sore bums so I guess  it's just the job for urine in contact with skin.
Glad it feels a tad better Gordon :)

Sudocream is fine - but keep using hot salty water to draw it in between applications.  You need  to  get the infection out.

^^sudocrem, sorry.
