My wife has recently been diagnosed with this condition. Does anyone out there have any treatments that may help - apart from the 'graded exercise' she has been prescribed.

There was an article on this recently in one of the Saturday magazines ( I think it was "Mirror" magazine). 5.10.02. They cited the cases of 3 women of various ages who had been diagnosed with ME. As I recall, the treatments that they were centred around diet and getting your lifestyle in balance. If you haven't already seen this site, try www.afme.orge.uk for more information
Graded exercise can be helpful - but it is extremely important not to overdo it and progress too quickly. Other useful websites which include various drug and non-drug treatments are http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/cfs/ and http://www.supportme.co.uk/index2.htm A friend of ours has recovered from the condition - he stopped smoking (very important!) and took Vitamin C and zinc.
