Is there any harcore evidence of the above being harmful? How do I find out? I mean there are various people/webpages I could refer to, but I mean proper evidence and facts. Thanks in advance.

Most authorities state the hydroquinone should be regarded as a 'potential carcinogen'. This doesn't necessarily mean that hydroquinone is carcinogenic, only that some studies have suggested possible links to cancer. (Incidentally, many everday foods could be labelled as 'potentially carcinogenic'. e.g. if you grill bacon until it's crisp, carcinogens are produced).
