Lifeline

After my reent hip dislocation, the community team are trying to persuade me to have Lifeline.
I have a birthday soon, and son & dil asked what I wanted. I said one of those watches that I could make a call from. Amazon have some, but dil has looked and she says although they say they support Alexa, you can't make a call out from them (eg in an emergency). Can anyone think of one that has that facility please?

Yes Bednobs, but I am one of those who isn't superglued to my phone. Mostly it lives in my handbag.

The lifeline would be a good idea. You have instant contact with someone who can help you right away.

Why not go for a lifeline that goes to a central monitoring. They call the people you have on a list. Most watches require a seperate SIM card unless you are close to your phone

What has put me off is hearing that sometimes Lifeline have made it difficult to get out of the contract with them.

Ferlew, if you need that sort of support now, you will probably need it more in the future. Why would you want to end your contract with Lifeline? Is it due to annual increased costs at all?

That does play a part of it Tilly, I won't deny it.
Maybe I should just try and make more of having a mobile, perhaps a little waist pouch for it or similar. I just do't want to walk around the house or garden with it in my hand all the time.

The lifeline you wear round your neck. If you are doing the call and no one answers it would be easier for the lifeline company to just call the next of your contacts not you

I wear my lifeline all the time and have needed to use it in the past. Contact Age Uk and they will talk you through the cost. I wear mine in the shower and it even went through the wash a few years ago! Well worth it for peace of mind.

You could buy an arm band that you could slip a mobile phone into, runners often wear them

I got My lifeline through local Council. Pay £20 a month gives me peace of mind as I am live by myself.
