My elderly neighbour has just phoned a bit confused.  She has been told the problems she has standing up straight, weakness in her left side and difficulty walking are caused by a problem in her neck.

All she can remember is that it begins with a sch or sc sound.

She is bent double, needs a walker.

Any ideas?

Scoliosis?

Question Author

Thanks both.

has she been offering her queendom for a horse, by any chance?

Question Author

What do you mean, Jno?

Scoliosis sounds correct to me.

Question Author

It came on very suddenly

like Anybody who has Scoliosis - has had it all her life.  from she was a little kid.

sorry, barry, I was thinking of Richard III, who is said to have offered his kingdom for a horse: though long supposed to have been a hunchback, it was found when his skeleton recovered that he'd had scoliosis - so twisted rather than hunched.

Could it be Cervical spondylosis?

Question Author

Don't think so, Wolf, she has no pain at all, apart from her bottom through being so immobile.

She is bent straight over, no indication of a twisted spine.
