Do You Talk To The Television?

I do it all the time.  Watching 'Millionaire' - the contestant dithering over a wrong answer - me ... 'Noooo!  Pick 'B', pick 'B'!    Any quiz and I'm telling the television the answers.  A drama or mystery or thriller and someone is heading for disaster - me 'Nooo - don't go there - switch the lights on - look behind you - quick - hurry up - runnnn - he's lying, don't believe him!  Oh good grief!

Is it just me?

If you do it when it's not switched on, that's when you have to worry

constantly!

rarely talk - often swear!

If you do it when it's not switched on, that's when you have to worry

Not so much since I stopped watching earnestly balanced but utterly fictional adverts.

Now if we can address the over-supply of people of sub-continental ancestry in positions of power TV-wise that'll be great.

No

If I'm very engrossed with the TV I do.  I also jump out of my skin and spill my coffee when I'm watching some dramas

I talk to everything.

We are all one.

All the time, especially in dramas/thrillers, when the word "moron" gets a good outing.  I'm always amazed that the characters never seem to be written to show that they've watched TV dramas & should know what they're getting into.  Too meta perhaps.

Yes...it's one of those ultra-clever ones with voice control. Saves typing in programme titles etc.

Of course I do; it's only polite because they talk to us. When we got our first TV in the 50s my elderly grandmother was convinced the people on there could see us and I'm beginning to think she was right. After all at the end of say, the news, they always say "I'll SEE you tomorrow" and if you shout out an answer to a quiz they give that answer a few moments later - sometimes they even give the wrong one that you gave them. The only conclusion is that the people on TV CAN see and hear you, so be careful what you get up to whilst the box is on.

I bet you have been known to say thank you to the odd ATM as well.  There is a name for interacting with tech on an inappropriate or ineffective level I am sure one of the wordsmiths will throw it into the conversation.

Batshit?

I bet you love Pantomine naomi.

Oh no she doesn't!

Sorry to be pedantic and I'm sure it's a type but it's pantomime.  It's a bugbear of mine.

Everyone did when the original 'Catchphrase' was on.

Roy Walker smiling, and saying "Close, but you're not right..."

And the entire viewing audience is screaming at their TV's as one -

"Close??? CLOSE?????? You're miles off you utterly useless brainless #×*^÷×!!!!!"

Happy times...

Funny you should say that, Retro.  I absolutely adore panto.  I'm up there yelling with all the kids - on one gloriously memorable occasion lobbing some of the hundreds of foam bricks that had fallen upon the audience from nets in the roof at the dastardly cad that was Captain Hook - also known as David Hasselhoff.  Love it!

Occasionally talk to it to tell them I know the answers to stuff they don't.  I remember years ago at the end of the night around ten thirty to eleven oclock when we used to stand for the national anthem, as if they could see if we didn't lol.

Nooo!  Did you really, Shedman?  That's so funny.  :o)))

My mother also said I moved the hands of the clock on once by 2 hours as I thought it would make watch with mother come on quicker lol.
