I've been advised that my haeoglobin level is slightly low and I can have a course of iron tablets or find a supplement that will boost the level,

Any suggestions as to something that will do that without causing constipation or other issues.

An obvious dish, which includes both red meat and red kidney beans, is chilli con carne.  (Chilli definitely doesn't cause constipation.  Indeed, it has exactly the opposite effect!)

That great food of the gods, black pudding

Minadex - tastes nice too .

Floradix.  It has a sweet taste, easy to take.

I remember once I was in an off-licence and I heard the lady in front of me being served.  She'd clearly never been in one before.  She told the man behind the counter that her doctor had recommended she drink two bottles of stout each day to boost her iron levels.

When she left the assistant turned to me and asked: Did your doctor tell you to take drink?

Funny man. :-)

My grandmother drank two bottles of stout a day because her doctor told her to when she was pregnant . She never thought to stop

I the winter she put a hot poker in her glass of stout, for extra iron apparently

Liver is a good source of iron. If you don't like it as meat whole, you can eat it as paté in it's many delicious forms.
