Two weeks back I opened a new pair. Last night I ran out of cleaner and can't get any more until I go home at the weekend. So they didn't dry out I put them in boiled water (cooled). Obviously you shouldn't do this, but if I then clean them properly will they still be OK or will 3 days in water harm them? Thanks.

Honestly couldn't tell you, I'd leave them to clean for the recommended period before putting them in your eyes again though...

You do realise Asda sell contact lense solution (both regular and peroxide) and are generally open 24hrs!?

I wear soft contact lenses and stayed at a friends house once without my solutions so i put them in water overnight and the lenses themself were fine (im not sure how they would be after 3 days) but they absolutely stung my eyes when i put them in.. best call your opticians and ask
I wouldn't do this under any circumstances. The reason we use solution is that tap water (boiled or not) contains loads of nasty chemicals that can irritate or damage your eyes. I've found myself in the same position as you before and have quite successfully wrapped the lenses carefully in clingfilm or just let them try out and then rehydrated them by soaking them in solution the next day after a quick visit to the local chemist! Didn't have any bad reactions but it's important to leave the lenses for 5-10 minutes to rehydrate before touching them to avoid damaging the delicate wee things!

Thanks...the point is I'm away from home during the week, in the middle of nowhere and the shops shut when I finish work! I deliberately used boiled water as I was always told the chemicals were removed that way. Thanks for the answers!

For the record: I've cleaned them properly now and put them back in...and they're fine! So next time you run out, you can thank me for my optical experimentation and save wasting perfectly good lenses.
