Flinging insults in the first place or back tracking and toadying up later?

If I was Trump I'd not give this slimey creature the time of day.

//The comments are a stark contrast to comments in 2019, when he called Trump a "danger to the world" and "little short of a white nationalist". //

Trump will wipe the floor with him - and his boss.

Back tracking and toadying up later.

Mandelson is the latest in a long list, starting with JD Vance ...

Whatever possessed the PM to send this awful slimeball to the US as our ambassador?

Whatever possessed him to do most of what he's done?  The man is a complete fool.

Trump could be hearing from both Peter Mandelson and Dominic Cummings ... what a combination (as the Fruit & Nutcase ad went).

Blimey, I think I'm agreeing with TTT. 🤣

Yes, he's toadying.
Embarrassing

Mandelson is such an A-HOLE. To have him as USA ambassador is a sick joke.

Any astute politician will know the value of international relations. And that any present administration is here today, gone tomorrow. Chances are giving the cold shoulder now will prove a point, a thaw later will improve things for both parties and their nations.

Meanwhile as the realities start to make themselves known "the startled bogbrush" blinks again.

//Incoming US President Donald Trump is set to rule on the future of the Chagos Islands after Labour put negotiations "on hold" at the request of his team.

Senior members of Trump’s team demanded Britain delay the signing of a deal until he was back in office, The Telegraph reports.//

End of that childish game then.

Apart from historical considerations I don't know why the UK is involved in this anyway. We aren't a super power any more & we should stop acting like we are. Just say to the USA - "It's yours - you sort it out."

But it isn't theirs. They own bases there. Washing one's hands of things because one doesn't have the courage to make the right decisions doesn't always work out well.

not about courage - practicalities

What is so impractical about carrying on ignoring the UN ?

Apparently it is rumoured that President Trump may not accept My Lord Mandelson as the UK's ambassador to the USA.

^The Independent is reporting that.

JD Vance once called Trump America's Hitler before later toadying up, and he was allowed to be vice president so Mandelson might also be forgiven.

But didn't JD Vamce once call trump "America's Hitler"?

He's now VOP, so go figure!
