I understand the Tories are already in charge in 8 of the 9 so presumably will remain in control, so it's not helping Labour.

Question Author

it's the principle, why are they messing about with the normal time table of elections?

If 8 of the 9 are controlled by the Conservatives it's not fear that's driving this, but control - and this government will grab all it can.  Regardless of political persuasion this should set alarm bells ringing for everyone.

Won't the Tories be happy that another confrontation with Farage's people will be postponed?

Question Author

They are looking at the wider picture, if they can do it with tory councils with little fuss they can thenh do it in Labour councils and then argue that no one seemed bothered when they did it in Tory councils. Overall though they are terrified of the voting pattern wiping out Labour in favour of reform even in councils they do not control.

Yes I understand the Tories are happy to go along with it. I can see there is a case for this if there's going to be a reorganisation shortly. I can also the other side. Overall it's not a big deal to me.

Question Author

TBH both the main parties are scared of reform and they are terrified that they have managed to find common ground between old labour and old tory voters both equally angry at what they have done to our country. They'll try and prevent any chance for the voters to give them a bloody nose.

labour will try to put off the inevitable, reform will eventually be the next government, labour will become like the liberal party or worse.. bottom feeders.

😂🤣

"Overall it's not a big deal to me"

Well it should be.  Things like this set precidents, anyone want to bet on if we get a general election on time?

I wonder how long it will be until civil war breaks out?

It may be cheaper not to hold elections, but I don't see that is a valid excuse to deny the people democracy in this situation. There's a whole year before boundary fiddling occurs.

Could be 3 years before complete, how long is a term?

This is election fiddling, needs challenging in the Courts, I cant see how it can be legal for one uneducated person to stop elections.

Perhaps the people who live in the suspended councils administration areas should suspend their payments of council tax.

George Orwell.

^That is exactly what I was alluding to at 14:19 Wed.  That, I have thought since this lot came to power, is the direction in which this government is heading.
