I notice that a previously banned user is now posting on Answerbank under a new username.  Please could the Editor and team clarify what the point of this is?

I'm a bit clueless - how would I know if a new username was a previously banned user? If they registered with a different email address how would the admin know?

It came up on a previous thread- the "new user" was complaining because people were calling them by their "old" ie banned username.  When you look back on previous posts it's completely obvious that it's the same person.   The likes of you and me wouldn't know, but surely the mods/editor team know it's the same person?  But apparently don't want to discuss.  Just seems pointless, but perhaps there's a reason behind it?

Yes, I wondered exactly the same thing.  I'm guessing if I name the person, my answer will get deleted by a mod.  But why?  Surely we are doing AB a favour by pointing it out?

Traffic, that's all.

That doesn't necessarily indicate they were ever banned

Imo, this thread is likely to continue with users being named directly & could provoke more strife than any of us need, so I'm closing it before that happens.
