Sore Throat

Are there any foods that I can eat to make my sore throat more bearable? And does anyone have any tips to make me sleep better? I'm ill and have a very sore throat, a cough that hurts because of my throat and am having very bad trouble sleeping. For example, for the past 2 nights i've only had 5 and 4 hours sleep. On Mon/Tues night, i went to bed at 9, then woke up at 1.15am, then couldnt get back to sleep until 6.30am, then woke up at 7.30, I then tried to get back to sleep but i couldnt. And Tues/Wed night wasnt much better.
And help would be brill. Thanx Rich

If your cough is not productive then try a cough supressant cough mixture, ask for a not non-drowsy kind which should help you to sleep WARNING usual stuff, do not take this advice if you are allergic to any of the suggested meds, do not drive or operate heavy machinery, read the instructions, consult the doc if your symptoms don't improve
Whenever I have a sore throat and/or a dry tickly cough I eat chocolate. First of all it produces phlegm which helps soothe the throat and the tickle and second of all it's just a nice treat when you're feeling poorly.
Although I prefer plain chocolate, milk chocolate produces more phlegm.
But obviously if you have a chesty cough you should stay well clear of chocolate and dairy as you've got enough phlegm to deal with already
