I am a clinical hypnotherapist and counsellor, and see many clients suffering from depression. Hypnosis can be an aid to depression, but it is best when combined with counselling or psychotherapy. That means that you have to be selective as to which therapist you choose to use. By far the best is one that combines both hypnosis and counselling, as the counselling side will help you to look to the underlying causes of your depression, rather than just treating the symptoms of depression. Hypnosis is simply deep relaxation - nothing more magical than that, but during hypnotic trance, you should feel empowered to bring about changes in your life which will eventually help your depression to subside.
