I feel desperate for the people stood trying to pick out roses/a card for that 'special day' just because they feel pressured from the partner and/or media. We celebrate our wedding anniversary on the 8th Feb; we could have got married over valentines but it was so tacky. Be spontaneous any day of the year, it's far more refreshing.
I understand why this is a bit of a hard time this year, but it hasn't bothered me too much - not like Christmas did!
I'm OK with Mother's Day because that is a genuine traditional occasion, but the purely invented ones - 'grandparents' day' is juts not on - and i am a grandparent, but I don;t encourage my daughter to feel she has to get a card for us.
I know you have been going through it, and all this romance kinda rubs it in, but next year .....?
Hello yellowduck, I,ve posted recently on this subject, It is the most pointless DAY ever. I,ve been married 14 years, and we are both in agreement its a rip off.
Before i get all the Pro-Valentine Brigade having ago at me, Go and buy the same Flowers/Chocolates & meals etc next week, Then ask yourself Why do i let people rip me off.
LOVE IS 24/7 all day, every day, if people are happy to pay these inflated prices then good luck and enjoy your Day/Night.
On your other point yellowduck, I don't no why relationships break down just before the public holidays, Maybe some tighta**e dosen't want to treat their partner to a weekend away, or maybe you've just been unlucky.Hope you don't get to downbeat tho, and because theirs no Mr Right today dose'nt mean their won't be tomorrow.
Enjoy your evening
i agree. its a shame that it means so much to some and hurts some so much when it is forgotten.
i personally don't really care but i suppose it can be quite nice to get a genuinely anonymous card, but you can keep all the frilly heart shaped things and red devils etc etc - bleurgh!
duckie - this may cheer you up a little - i am loving the term moanbag!! you have made me giggle and I intend to call my sister it asap LOL ;o)
