acyclovir and cold sores

Hi Folks

I'm prescribed acyclovir tablets for when I get an outbreak of coldsores. I have heard that if you have a special event coming up you can take them before to prevent getting one. Is this true and what is the dose/strength? For how long before event do you have to take them and how often? I think my tablets are 200mg.

Can't help you with the acyclovir tablets, but a bit of advice for you, when the tinglee sensation starts prior to you getting a coldsore put ICE on it, You will find it kills the coldsore.
