All Is Well
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household world that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It it the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.

oh my gosh, that tugged at my heart strings! my mum has about a year left with us if im brave enough i might recite that moving passage at her funeral. i know it seems morbid to be thinking of this kind of thing now but i am trying to prepare myself for the fatefull day so no harsh comments please, thanks x
you're welcome stevie - so sorry you lost someone.
they are lovely words - gypsy-tart it's not wrong that you should be preparing yourself now for the loss of your mum. My sister works as a funeral arranger & so many people have never discussed or thought about what they'll do when their loved ones pass away. Some people have no idea what music they'd have liked for instance & when the sad time comes those that are left behind are too distressed to think straight. Be strong x
