gessoo - you are of course entitled to your opinion, but you are also, as you said, sexist, controlling, old-fashioned and patronising.

women are human beings, first and foremost, just as men are.
women have been brought up to be 'shrinking violets' and taught that they should be offended by such things, but that is because of society, not because women are too weak to handle a bit of bad language, fighting or drinking. (and i am not suggesting that this is great behaviour, it's just no worse than men doing it)

i remember when shows like bad girls, desperae housewives, footballers wives, sex and the city, no angels, etc etc many men were shocked and didn't believe that women were really like that - they had this daft idea that we are all pink and fluffy and like needlework or something, and that our lives revolve around flattering the ego of the men in our lives - ha!

many people seem to forget we are all the same species, the same animal.
no other animals or insects have the same divide and double standards as we do, if this was the natural order of things all other animals would be like this.

we are not precious flowers waiting for a big man to protect us - this 'weaker sex' attitude is just a lingering effect of the victorian age, which couldn't have been more alien to the natural side of the human race if it tried.

Women are, overall, weaker though, not to cause any offence. This is a proven fact.
Are they really..... I have a black belt in karate.

When I was your age ..fourteen is it... I was a county hockey player and I have done and coped with stuff you would not even dream of.... and even now if some git attacked me I could still pack a punch . So don't tell me women are weak ..even if I do choose to disagree with swearing.
I didn't say they were weak, I said weaker. This is why, if you look at world records, women's scores are lower than men's scores.
Ah..I see..you must have been reading your Guiness Book of Records.! My sons used to collect them when they were your age!
I thought you'd gone to bed. Run along then.

yet again you misunderstand - and here's me thinking you knew it all - i suppose i shouldn't be surprised.

more instant conclusions from reading the guinness book of records this time 'eh?

the term 'the weaker sex' is not to do with physical strength -

- it shouldn't need to be pointed out that most men are physically stronger than women, that is obvious and is just nature, not because they are better -

- it regards their inner strength, resilience, gumption, bravery, intelligence etc etc, that many men, for centuries, seem to assume women don't possess, and assume that women are incapable of showing any signs of independance, and are therefore lesser citizens.

how wrong they are.

I was talking about physical strength! Argument over?

you were responding to my comment about the 'weaker sex'. you misunderstood it.

backtrack all you like, if it makes you feel better.

Joko, I am as strong mentally, and probably physically as most men (well, before the arthritis set it!). You miss my point. And I certainly wasn't being patronizing.

Femininity does not mean weakness or being the 'little woman at home' which I most certainly am not. I am far from being an old fashioned person with outdated views. I am an independent person and can be totally self sufficient.

I think it is a shame that feminity has been sacrificed in an effort to prove that we are equal.

I respect your views. I just don't agree with them.

And the male of the species is naturally more aggressive than the female, due to testosterone, which is why young men when they are full of the stuff are prone to fighting and aggressive behaviour.

Well, you were talking about 'precious flowers' and male protection, so I hope you can understand my confusion.

fair enough gessoo. I take your point about femininity, it has lessened, but I think that's a female choice.
all I object to is being expected to be all girly by men because they like it and expect it from 'their' women.

My dad is a whistler, always whistling and i will occasionally whistle too - my uncle shouted at me because he said its not ladylike for a girl to stand there with pursed lips - it doesn't look nice!! Yet its okay for men because they don't need to look pretty!! Mind you they were about 70 at the time...lol

glad to hear you are another strong independant female :o)

Well, one thing this site does is makes us all think Joko. I was thinking last night that some of the strongest people in history and present day time have been women and they haven't had to resort to what I think of as 'male aggression' . We should be proud of the differences between us and make those differences work for us. Women in my grandmothers day were often very much stronger mentally than we are, keeping their families together through thick and thin and working physically and mentally harder to do so, yet they remained 'feminine'.

Come to think of it, we are by far superior to blokes ;o)

And that's what's wrong with feminisim; it's not sexual equality, it's about female superiority.

Ah, but Spacechimp, I was talking about being 'feminine' which is not the same as 'feminism'. I am not a feminist but hope I am feminine!

I presume you know my last sentence was meant tongue in cheek?

Question Author
whats this whos the strongest sex stuff got to do with the original question, does'nt matter male or female swearing does'nt make either sex any stronger.
It's hard to detect tongue in cheek if you can't hear things being said. :(

Ah, but Spacechimp I did put a 'wink' after that sentence, so you should have understood.

I thought you had a tic :D.
