Is it common for women to lose hair after having a baby? something to do with hormones I assume? anyway, can anyone recommend a treatment for this or a good thickening shampoo?

Thanks.

...thinning hair is also one symptom of an underactive thyroid, along with tiredness, weight gain, dry skin, ask your gp for a blood test to rule this out, I was diagnosed 3 months after giving birth , apparently pregnancy can trigger off an imbalance in the thyroid gland...

yes, it is common to lose hair after giving birth as during your pregnancy, you actually became hairier, but you don't notice! and obviously bubba has taken all the good stuff out of you! bless them and it never changes x

Yes, but it's nothing to worry about.
You are simply losing the hair you did not lose towards the end of your pregnancy.
That's why your hair looked thicker then and will get back to normal (not thinner) now.

If you worry about it, check with your doctor to make sure there are no other (pregnancy unrelated) reasons.

Anaemia is the most common cause of hair loss in women. Have a chat with your doctor.

While you are pregnant, you don't lose as much hair as you normally would. After you have given birth, your body has to catch up, so it seems as if you are losing a lot of hair, but really you are losing 9 months worth all in one go.
