Sugar and hyperactivity

Does anyone know why some children become hyperactive if they have a lot of sugar?

Children are very active and sugar releases energy into the body. When an active child has sugar their energy levels more than double and they are hyperactive because their body needs to burn off this inwanted extra energy.
