This is a serious question and I'd like advice quickly. A friends 12 year old son has been discovered by his mother wearing her and his older sisited underwear. I'm in the 'so what' frame of mind but would welcome any sensible views. ty

Indeed, so what? This is just experimentation- all kids do it. And even if it turns out to be an adult hobby, so what? Lots of men do it. I work with a man, a technician who dresses up in a Nurses uniform at the weekends. No harm done.
I think at that age it's just natural curiosity. Girls' underwear looks more interesting than boys', it'a made of softer material, so a lot of boys who have access to it via mums or sisters do try it out. I would just ignore it - no point in giving the lad a complex.
I'm also of the so-what" persuasion here. It's probably a comfort thing, or a phase but as Scarlett said, it's no big deal if it isn't. I would care not one jot if my son or partner wanted to wear womens undies. After all, I wear trousers, occasionally a mans shirt or boxers etc....equal clothing rights for all. I think making a big deal out of this to a 12 year old would do much more harm than just letting it go. I would maybe just ensure he had his own tho, as I could understand sis being slightly peeved at him borrowing hers.
Im with the so whats on this
yep im in the 'so what' frame of mind too. I cant see as it matters what sort of undies anyone wears and like kick3 I have worn mens undies loads of times
Very much so what as well. I have a gay son who never tried on women's underwear and a straight son I caught doing it twice:), so it's just experimentation, and as all you wonderful, rational, unfreaked people say, if it isn't "so what":)
Hi like everyone else i dont think this is a big deal, when my brother was 11 or 12 i used to catch him wear my high heel shoes my best ones, for a night out on the town. He is engaged and has got 2 lovley children now:)
This is no biggie for me either. Over-reaction of parent I would find much more disturbing!

I would be more disturbed finding my son shooting up heroin ;o) basically I am saying that it's no biggie for me either..it may be a phase, it may not ~ if he doesn't grow out of it then it is still no big deal in my opinion.

I pressed 'enter' before I finished...what I was going to add is that it may be more prudent for him to buy his own undies..it probably isn't nice to share such intimate clothing ;o) just a thought!
It wouldn't bother me. One of the sexiest guys on tv is Eddie Izzard and he wears women's clothing. Mmmm... Eddie Izzard... *drool*...
If this was my child though, I would be concerned with other boys seeing that he's wearing his sisters underwear, and then being made fun of for all of eternity. That could be seriously scaring. So I would watch it, and maybe take the boy out to pick his own male underwear that he thinks is comfortable. A 12 year old is quite different then a 5 year old trying his sisters undies on. But maybe Im wrong.
Society dictates what is right for a boy and what is right for a girl,so when you see a boy doing what isn't expected of him people worry ,so what, good for him for doing what HE wants,it doesn't make him abnormal in any way,he's just a boy, like scarlett says its just experimentation!

My main concern would be changing infront of other boys and getting teased. I totally understand the concept of experimenting, but why with womens underwear at an older age? Isn't 12 a little on the more mature side as far as experimenting with clothing? This is an honest question I am wondering.

but danceaolt, even if it's not experimentation and it's just something he enjoys....so what? There are hundreds of thousands of men out there who enjoy wearing womens undies. It does no one any harm, and if it feels good, why not? I'd have no prpblem with my partner wanting to wear nice soft pants. I'll say again - equal clothing rights. I'm 100% with Mr Izzard on that one. it may well be that this young boy just likes how they feel, and that's up to him. I don't think that he's liekly to suddenly forget that he's 12, and forget that other children will tease you for anything that's "different" to their perceived norm. That is to say, he's hardly going to get changed for PE with his sister's frilly pinks on, is he? The pants haven't made him stupid, just a little different.

Ok, I know everyone is going to attack me for this, and I am probably wrong. But I do think it is odd. It is possible that he may just enjoy the feeling of the underwear, and that is totally fine. But it is also possible for this to lead to a bigger problem in the future and as the parent I would just watch out for it, that's all. Just be aware of it.

Also he doesn't necessarily have to be changing in PE for people to see his undies. He could be at the urinal. And 12 year olds are very impressionable, and more sensitive then a 40 yr old male who enjoys wearing womens underwear.

But maybe men wearing womens underwear is just more common then what I thought. I mean this honestly. xxcheers

I luv gettin into womens knickers ...but thats another matter altogether !
