You aren't the person you were before this happened; you've had a harsh experience and you'll have been altered by it. The best you can do is try to take control of the way you change. Ideally, think about what went wrong, if there were perhaps any warning signs you overlooked (I'm not saying there were, there often aren't), anything you could learn from it; but don't develop too hard a shell, becoming cynical or distrustful. There are good people out there who don't behave like he did - most of them, I believe.
The pain doesn't vanish overnight; it fades away, and gradually you'll find you're living through the day without thinking about it at all. So tell yourself: this is the first day of the rest of my life, I've learnt something new, I've been through a bitter experience - but I've survived, and my life is my own.
